From January 7, 2026, all vehicle drivers operating in an airport’s manoeuvring area must demonstrate operational-level English proficiency to obtain or renew an Airside Driving Permit (ADP). This requirement applies to all drivers, including those operating Follow-Me vehicles, who need to apply for a new airside driving permit or renew their existing one. The certification must meet the ICAO Level 4 proficiency standard. This regulation is based on EASA ADR.OPS.B.029 and is closely linked to EASA ADR.OPS.B.024, which ensures that vehicle operators in the manoeuvring area can effectively communicate with air traffic control (ATC) at all times.
